The micro-sample blood test is a self-contained collection kit approved for patient self-collection or professional use. The consumer or healthcare professional collects 1-3 drops of blood from the patient and mails the blood sample to the laboratory for analysis. Our Laboratory produces a consumer friendly quantitative report. From a few drops of blood obtained from a finger nick, a quantitative hs-CRP determination, with clinical accuracy, is obtained. CRP is a general marker of infection and inflammation that alerts medical professionals that further testing and treatment may be necessary.

WHAT IS C REACTIVE PROTEIN AND HOW IS IT IMPORTANT IN DENTISTRY?
C-Reactive Protein is a substance made by the liver in response to inflammation anywhere in the body.
• It has been shown to be more predictive of heart attacks than high cholesterol.
•Periodontal disease has been shown to significantly increase CRP, thereby increasing heart attack risk.
